Reading through some of my fellow blogger’s end-of-the-year posts always inspires me to think and plan for next year. It’s good to have a plan, and this is also true for bloggers.
2017 was a great year for Smores and Sundresses and considering that my word for 2017 was growth, I’m proud to say that my blog has experienced it.
Last year, I made the decision to streamline my posts and plan everything ahead of time. There were a few times when I had at least 8 posts scheduled for release. This was great for the summer months when we were so busy.
I also decided to send out monthly newsletters, highlighting what was new on the blog, and offering insider freebies. I’ve really enjoyed the newsletter side of things, and the experience has helped me to understand the inner workings of MailChimp (I was so intimidated in the beginning!).
Several moms have contacted me, specifically through Instagram, who have experienced their sons coming out. This has been a heart-warming experience for me. I’m proud to say I’m in a very positive place in this regard and feel comfortable being a sounding board for them. Words cannot express how very glad I am that they’ve reached out to me and I wish them all the very best in their relationships with their sons, as they learn to understand and accept their sons in new ways.
I’m very proud of my accomplishments this year and I’m really looking forward to continuing the trend.
My word for 2018 is “consistent“, which I’m hoping will continue the growth I’ve experienced in 2017.
The top S&S blog posts for 2017 were:
Budget-Friendly Family Winter Fun – this guest post was written by my good friend Angela. I asked Angela to write a post because she always has the best ideas for having fun on a budget. I’m hoping she will write again for me soon. Her husband, Matt, is on the verge of beginning an exciting new blog to the blogosphere. I can’t wait to read his content. (No spoilers, sorry!)
Cool Camping Gear for Your Next Trip – I wrote this post because there are so many cool camping gadgets out there, and I guess some of it is kinda on my wish list. I am glad that others have found this post so useful.
A Girl’s Guide to Roughing It – Just because I grew up as a tomboy doesn’t mean all girls have. I wrote this post for my fellow girls, in the hopes of turning some of them into campers. It’s possible to have a great time on a camping trip even if you don’t like bugs (or sleeping on the ground).
What Not to Bring on Your Next Camping Trip – Just as important as the “what to bring with you” list is the “what not to bring with you” list. If it’s not absolutely essential, skip it. Less really is more, especially when it comes to camping. Think: minimalist!
Hearty Meatball Sub Soup – This recipe was a total hit, and it’s one of our favourite soups. If we have to have the winter season, we have to have this soup! Make a pot today, and enjoy!
A huge thank you to all my readers… I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you! Here’s to a wonderful 2018! Cheers!
