While not every female on the face of the planet is a chocolate fan, I think it’s fairly safe to say that the majority of women are in agreement. Chocolate is used to celebrate just about every major holiday, and it’s our best friend at that time of the month (I wasn’t gonna go there, but hey, it’s true!).
To say that I have a sweet tooth is a major understatement. Almost every dessert recipe I share includes chocolate in some form. If you don’t believe me, check out my recipe for my Chocolate Trifle, or my Magic Cookie Bars. I rest my case. Life is just better with chocolate, in my opinion!
Suffice it to say that brownies are up there on the list. Warm and gooey from the oven… they are just so perfect with a cup of tea, or, in today’s case, Cinnamon Cocoa.
This delicious duo is perfect for a night in, cuddling with your Valentine. Pop in a romantic comedy DVD or watch something from Netflix, and it’s a perfect evening. You could even smuggle these into the movie theater when you go to see Fifty Shades Darker! I won’t tell!
Begin by chopping your chocolate. To ensure a quicker melting process, chop it as fine as you can. I had problems with mine and needed the food processor halfway through. If you’ve melted chocolate before, getting to the point where it’s over-nuked means the chocolate is ruined.
Make sure to line your baking dish with foil… it just makes it easier to remove the brownies from the pan.
I used a low-calorie sweetener in my brownies, in place of sugar. Trying to watch my waistline as much as I can, you know!
I also didn’t wait for my eggs to go to room temperature, exactly. I sat them in a bowl of warm water for half an hour or so before I got to baking. This is my shortcut method when a recipe calls for room temperature eggs.
I usually add chopped walnuts in my brownies, but I left them out this time. I think the chocolate chips will add enough substance to these delicious brownies.
This was a great way to also warm up the house without turning up the furnace! I’m all for that!
One of my favourite things to do with homemade brownies is to serve them with vanilla ice cream. Drizzle a little chocolate syrup in a zig-zag pattern on a plate. Place your warmed brownie on the syrup and top it with a scoop of ice cream. Serve immediately. It looks so fancy!
I sincerely hope you’ve enjoyed these brownies as much as we have!
