I can’t believe I’ve had the pleasure of blogging for two years now! It’s been an awesome way for me to share my camping knowledge, a little about my life and some of my family’s favourite recipes.
In January of 2017, I changed the direction of Smores and Sundresses. Prior to that time, I was practicing my writing, using blog prompts and writing about my life in a very general way. It was a messy, mishmash of writing, that I’m proud of, but there was no direction.
I changed that by planning out my writing, and it’s been a huge help.
How S&S Came To Be
I began writing about camping so I could help my friends. I post a LOT of pictures of my family wherever we go, and camping was no exception. I loved sharing our fun! Have a look at my very first post.
And then some of our friends started asking us how we camp with kids, how we keep them entertained. What kind of food do we bring? What do we do when it rains?
I decided that even though there is information online about all things camping, I wanted to put a practical, organized spin (from a mom’s point of view) on camping preparation and keep it all in one place.
So, in September of 2015, I started a free WordPress blog, and 6 months later, decided I really wanted to own my own domain. It’s been awesome!
For awhile, I wondered if I would run out of things to write about, but I think adding in some recipes and some personal posts, it’s helped to even everything out. I love my little blog, it’s my little home on the web.
Has S&S Helped You?
Has this blog helped you, in any way? Obviously, it would be great if I’ve helped you with camping-related issues, but if this blog has been able to help you in the slightest way, I would love to hear how.
Please share your ideas with me, too. I’m always looking for new topics, so by all means, I’m open to your suggestions. What would you like to read about on the blog?
Would you mind leaving a brief comment for me?
